Couple Famous Armenians


Today, I thought to introduce to you to some famous Armenian personalities.

I start with international singer, Charles Aznavour, where ou = oo as in my name.

Aznavour was born in Paris, the son of Armenian immigrants Michael Aznavourian (from Akhaltsikhe in Georgia) and Knar Bagdasarian (from Turkey)[6]. His artistic parents introduced him to the world of theatre at an early age. He dropped out of school at the age of nine, already aspiring to the life of an artist. He began to perform at this time, and soon took the stage name “Aznavour”. His big break came when the singer Édith Piaf heard him sing and arranged to take him with her on tour in France and to the United States.

Aznavour’s voice is shaded towards the tenor range, but possesses the low range and coloration more typical of a baritone, contributing to his unique sound.read more

And famous Armenian-American female singer Cher.

Cher born Cherilyn Sarkisian on May 20, 1946) is an American pop, singer-songwriter, actor, director and record producer. She has won an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, an Emmy Award, three Golden Globe Awards and a People’s Choice Award for her work in film, music and television.

Cher began her career at the age of seventeen and came to prominence as one half of the pop rock duo Sonny & Cher “I Got You Babe” became an overnight hit in 1965. read more
